Ok, it's been AWHILE.

Alright, not sure if anyone reads this but I'm not doing it for anyone else. I NEED to start keeping up with this so that I can eventually print this off for the girls. I think with the fact that I'm not doing school anymore and that I blog already about fitness I will be able to keep this going. I think I might just keep the window up all day and than I can add to it when someone does something cute or awesome! So hopefully you'll be seeing a lot more of me lately!

The Week and Mother's Day!

Forgive the backwards order of the pictures! Colleen was trying to cheer Brighit up while she was eating, and Colleen took this picture of Brighit.
We've all been since in one form or another for the past 4 days, and here is Colleen trying to help make Brighit feel better. Both girls have a small case of the croup and Brighit isn't tolerating it as well as Colleen. Those are Colleen's new giraffe jammies she got a couple of days ago.

We are also doing The Ryan's PKU Walk in a couple of weeks. This is close to our heart as Brighit has PKU and any precious dollars that can be raised can help with research so that she might have a more varied diet in the future. Pretty Little Ladies

Brighit keeps amazing us with all that she is doing for an almost 14 month old! Colleen didn't have much interaction with kids at this age so all she had to copy was me, but Brighit has Colleen to copy and that is letting Brighit do things that Colleen didn't do at this age. Brighit climbs all over, actually plays with Colleen and us, and is picking up a ton of words! 75% of the time if you had Brighit something and say "here ya go Brighit" she will say "thank you"! We couldn't believe what we heard at first either, but she has said it multiple times so it must be so. There are a lot of times that she does that and we can't believe what we have just heard! She is oh so close to walking and we can't wait until she does! She is a hefty little girl and I will be glad when I don't have to carry her everywhere all the time.

Colleen is doing a great job going potty. This past week it seemed like there were less opportunities for her to use the potty here at home. I thought we were home more but the chart shows her using the potty less, but she didn't use her potty pants that often. I guess it was cooler and so she wasn't drinking as much. With the warmer weather that's coming hopefully we can change that. She does hold it when we go to the store, not even using her potty pant then, but waiting till we get home...AMAZING!

Lazy Sundays

It's hard to tell from this picture but that is Colleen's potty chart on the cabinet and it's full of little magnets for each time she uses the potty! That's all of last week and we have started over for this week and hopefully I'll have an equally full chart for next week!
Colleen had fallen asleep on the couch and had just woken up when I took this pic. She usually doesn't take a nap in the middle of the day anymore, but I helped her take one by rubbing her back. Colleen also put her sandals on by herself for the first time today!

We did get to the park this afternoon, and played for a bit before it was time to come home.

Fun stuff!!

Brighit has never been a snuggly baby, which was the total opposite of Colleen. Even while in the hospital right after she was born she didn't want to sleep with me in the bed, she slept better in the bassinet next to the hospital bed. This picture is something we thought we would NEVER see, and it totally made Dan's day! They both slept for about 30 mins, which is a record for her.

Last weekend the National Parks had free admission. We had been on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but never Skyline Drive, so this was the perfect opportunity! Unfortunately it was quite chilly and cold, so there are only a couple of pictures, but it was fun to just drive and see what's out there. Brighit slept for most of the drive, which was good since she doesn't understand what's going on anyway!

Brighit is getting quite interested in doing what Colleen does, even though she isn't quite walking yet. This morning Brighit was trying to play basketball like Colleen but the hoop was too high, so we lowered it and she was "shotting hoops" like her big sister! I tried to attach the video, but it didn't want to work!

Not much else going on. Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow and I will take some pictures o the plants that I am growing. We've got broccoli, red lettuce, peppers, chives,tomato's, strawberries and summer squash. They are all alive and growing so that makes me hopeful that they will produce something over the summer!

Back!

Ok, so I know it's been awhile, but I am going to try this blog thing again and keep up with it so that way I can document more of the things that the girls are doing. Colleen is now 3 and Brighit is 1! Colleen is doing a great job of using the potty, riding her bike, and being a great big sister! Brighit is ALMOST ready to start walking. She cruises around everywhere! She has 3.5 teeth, and we are doing the best we can with her diet, considering her growing personality and lack of teeth. Hopefully I will be adding more later on!

Brighit has her 6 month (can't believe it!) appt on Sept 8th, so I will have new figures then on how big she is, and she is DEFINITELY big!

Dinosaurs, Jumparoo, and real food!

Soo much going on lately that it's hard to keep track. Here are some pictures of Colleen enjoying a dinosaur puppet show at the park. We didn't stay too long as it didn't keep her attention and it was almost 90 degrees.

We met with Brighit's specialists today about starting her on solids. Since the 7th of July she has gained 14 oz and has grown 3/4 of an inch!!! She is definitely going to be able to keep up with Colleen being that big! Brighit tried some rice cereal and some bananas tonight at dinner. She loved the bananas and does a really great job of opening her mouth for the spoon. She definitely feels like a big girl eating with a spoon.We also had to get Brighit a new Jumparoo as the one Colleen had wouldn't work anymore. She must have worn it out! It is a little hard to use at first but as she gets bigger it will be great fun for her

Such a big girl!

Ok, so I don't have any pictures to show (hopefully I will feel like doing that soon) but just wanted to let everyone know Brighit's stats. Colleen at 4 months weighed 13 lbs 13 oz and was 23 7/8 inches long. Today Brighit weighed 14 lbs 2 oz and is 25 inches long. She is between 50 and 75 percentile in each category and Colleen has always been between 25 and 50 percentile..is amazing how each child can be soo different!  The dr is very happy with all the things that she is doing and how strong she is. We are truely blessed to have been able to catch her PKU so early so that she will have the best chance at a normal life. Granted she will have to be eating different foods, but hopefully we will be able to make each meal match ours with foods that she can eat. Like when we have spaghetti she can have low protein spaghetti..yes, there is protein in spaghetti!! She won't notice that difference for a couple of years though.  Night night everyone!

Quickie!

The girls are doing great! We've been busy doing all sorts of things! Colleen is a great big sister and gets smarter every day. She's doing a little bit of potty training and it's slow going but she is enjoying it. Brighit slept through the night 4 times last week and we go tomorrow for her 4 month check-up! I'll post some pics and her stats tomorrow (hopefully). Night Night

After a little bit of PeePee on the carpet (no big deal) Colleen went peepee in the potty!!! Time for ice cream after lunch!!!

Here is some video of Colleen playing basketball. We got this little hoop last summer so she would have something active to do inside. When we first got it she had to have it all the way down so the hoop was level with the red ring on the neck of the hoop. Now she has is on the 4th level up, which is a good 12 inches above where she started out! She had made 4-5 shots in a row before I ran to get the camera, so she's getting tired!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

We've had a very busy week. Most morning are taken up by going to the gym, and between errands, naptimes, meals, and baths there isn't much time for anything. Monday was our 3rd Aniversary and we actually celebrated the previous Saturday with take-out from Outback. It was a combo Father's Day/Anniversary Dinner since Dan had to work both of those days. Curb-side is the best thing ever! You get to have the great meal, but without the hassle of having to deal with 2 little girls and waiting at the resturant. We aren't the type to get a babysitter...they are so important to us that we always want to be with them. Since the girls actually go to sleep at 8 we have time to ourselves. Brighit is sitting up in her little Bumbo and Colleen is as cute as ever. I will TRY to get pics downloaded tomorrow. I am in the final day of one class and the first in another, so I've got last minute and new things to do, besides all the house/normal stuff to do. 

Off to maybe do some reading for my Coaching class before Dan gets home from work.

Here is Brighit grabbing her Lion. She is getting stronger every day! She can sit up in her Bumbo chair (picture to come tomorrow) for a short period of time and be totally happy! She is just getting so much more awesome every day! That's Colleen and I talking in the background. Sorry it is sideways, I don't know how to fix it.

Colleen has been more and more interested in the potty lately and is even sitting on it on her little Dora potty seat. I decided that the time has come to switch from diapers to "potty pants" that is what I call pull-ups and training pants. She's gonna wear the reusable training pants at home and then she'll wear the pull-ups when we go out and at bedtime.  Then she will eventually wear the training pants all the time. Hopefully she will take to it, if not that's ok I'll just try again later on. It will be sooo nice when we are only having to buy diapers for one little girl...they are sooo expensive. 

That's all, not much going on here otherwise. Dan had to work so we did Father's Day last night and this morning and it was fun. 

Chalk and Markers oh MY!

Everyone seemed to get up extra early this morning so since it was a Saturday I decided that we should go yardsaleing. A friend had told me that her whole neighborhood was having one, and then Dan drove by one on his way to work that he told me about. We went to that one first and found the only deal of the day. It is a children's easel with a chalkboard on one side and a dry erase board on the other!! It originally said it was $22 but I talked the lady down to $15. Colleen LOVES to draw with chalk outside so this is the next best thing and we don't have to be out in the heat to do it! She of course got covered in chalk, but not too much in Marker. Check out her masterpieces...

I think I took some more pictures, or if not I know that I will take more of the artist at work. Tomorrow I'll post a little video of Brighit that I took today. She's grasping a toy of her bouncy seat that she hadn't been able to grasp yet....too cute and we are soo proud of her!

Hot Hot days!

Well it looks like summer is upon with the 90 degree weather and the high heat. We haven't done much the past couple of days because of that. Brighit is doing great. She sometimes sleeps all night, sometimes she gets up around 3 or 4, not too bad for a 3 month old! Here's Colleen in her jammies after dinner last night.

Brighit Giggled!

The girls get a bath every night. If I'm by myself it's done seperately, if Dan's home we do them at the same time. As I was washing Brighit's tummy last night she giggled and was smiling so big! This is the first giggle that she has done and it was so awesome! Colleen had been putting bubbles on her tummy, so this might have been part of it. Brighit loves to watch Colleen and always smiles when she does! This pictures is from a previous bath, not from last night.

Colleen loves to build with her blocks and she does a great job! I promise that I had nothing to do with this tower that she built! She does a really good job at balancing the blocks.

Hello everyone!

For one of my Graduate classes an assignment is to create a blog. It doesn't matter what the subject, just a blog. So I thought that since so many of our family members live all over the country that I would make a blog with the goings on of Colleen and Brighit. I'll post some pictures and some awesome milestones and other things the girls are doing. Naptime is apparently over so I will be back later with more!
